Default IS350 vs. BMW's New 335i

Does the IS350 stand much of a chance in terms of performance against BMW's announced 335i? It has their BMW's new magnesium alloy engine but twin turbocharged, producing 225kw (302hp) and 400Nm(295lb/ft) at 1500-5800rpm.

BMw's 335i doesnt' replace the 330i... it is yet another engine choice on top. i don't even want to hear the base price.

performance-wise, I think the Beamer will have a slight advantage....
LOOKS-WISE....I can't stand the new 3 series exterior...especially the back....and the interior is too blah as IMO...
reliability...no contest....IS
price...no contest...IS

it has more torque and the same hp as the IS I think, its actually a 3.0 twin turbo with direct injection, not a 3.5 Turboing an already not so great reliable car doesnt sit well with me

Default This is True!!

The european version of the 335i will have a turbo charged 3.0 engine. But, due to the U.S. emission law, the U.S. version will have a natural aspired 3.5 engine!! And it will have 306 horse power, like the IS 350.

i will have to wait and see what this car looks like, the price, and some performance numbers b4 I make up my mind. But as of right now, I'm still attracted to the IS more.

I think the performance numbers will be pretty similar. But I'd always take a normally aspirated engine over a turbo when the numbers are essentially the same. Less things to break, and no turbo lag.

BMW HP is underrated. The new 335i is going to be much faster then the IS350. E92 keeps up pretty well with the IS350.

Performance goes to the BMW, by a little.
Everything else goes to the Lexus, by a lot.

No surprise in the results of this poll on a Lexus forum... But I agree with the above comments that when two engines are similar performance-wise but one is turbo charged or super charged and the other is NA, the NA in general is preferable. Look at the Audi S4 and the MB C-class AMG. Both were turbos in their last generation and NA in the present generation. Plus I bet the Lexus will get better mileage.

There is no doubt that the BMW will out-perform the IS. The 330i already outperforms the 350 in handling and driver command.

Performance-wise, the BMW still is "the Furher." However, the IS as a whole is "the King."

Boy if they released a turbo version here I would bite on one and throw it in the garage. Turbo cars are awesome once boosted.

The 330i has 255 hp and does 0-60 in around 6 secs, the IS350 has 306 hp and does 0-60 in aroudn 5.3 secs, the 335 will have around 300 hp and probably will do 0-60 in around 5. 1 sec so the IS does have a chance on straight aways

Straightaways only, but when you hit canyons and curves, the Bimmer grabs the IS by the golgobas.

Def. Golgobas: (Indian) meatless ***** cooked in sticky sweet yogurt. Sweet sticky *****...
