Thanks for the links..
Personally, i am not a BMW 335 fan (gonna be too expensive), I am a STI fan-boy..
IS350 will be a better value overall and will be more reliable also...
I am just waiting for IS350 stick, possible IS460, etc...

at this point, I love the 330, I love the IS 350, I am sure the 335 will be a beast and all 3 are tops in class. Period.

Thats the point i was trying to make, the current m3's sales would clash
with the 335i, since they are simliar in performance 306hp vs 333hp..

new M3 is a 07 model, the timing is correct for the 335. Show the new 3 series coupe first, then later on in the year release the new M3

HAHA - I thought the name looked familiar: I see you in the non-subaru news section at NASIOC. (I once brought an sti home from a test drive - they actually let me drive it- my wife took one look at it and told me to bring it back... sti---my kinda car)

anywayz ya, the beefed up beemer will be more expensive, but at the same time will prolly be faster, more fun to drive, and will appeal to a lot of WOULD BE IS350 drivers; (I would buy it.. but they don't have stick). I'm gonna have to say in any kind of race, all other things being equal, the BWM 335 will have the advantage.

Owners care which car outperforms which other cars. Car companies care which car outsells which other cars. I guess this is the fun part of lives.......

They only care when their car comes out on top though. Otherwise it's just a waste of time

Unfortunatly I think the 335i is going to beat the IS350 in every performance catagory (acceleration, handling, breaking) Reliability will go to the IS of course as will interior fit and finish. I think both cars are quite sexy from the outside so niether gains nor losses ground there. Since this is a performance poll however, I had to choose "no"

I concur that the 335i will beat the IS350 in "breaking".

What's up with this string? Can't everybody just be happy that they have such a great car, and wish BMW owners (and everybody else) the very best of luck with their cars?

Does it really matter to us that BMW came out with a car with more this and more that, and that Lexus will then come out with a car that has more of this, and then BMW will come out with a car with more of that, ad naseum?

Do we have to hope that the BMW breaks more often so we feel better about our purchase? I hope not. Do we have to be jealous? Of course not. We own a top of the line car. But let us not go through this everytime BMW ups the ante. That's life, and all the dissing and badmouthing other cars only makes us look petty and small.

Dave

ps, I'm driving a rented Chrysler Crossfire convertible, what a POS!! The stereo is a piece of junk (at least compared to the ML. It sounds like it has soup cans for speakers,) and so much road noise with the top up driving @ 70mph that I would go crazy if I owned it. My old M3 convertible had very little road noise @ 135+ mph.

oh...and lexus rules, bmw sucks (even though the 335i will be faster and funner to drive prolly, and I wish I had an M3 and my next car will prolly be a beemer- then BMW will rule )

I will say this. BMW must really be paying attention to Lexus. Here is why
1. G35 had 260 and now 298hp, BMW didn't retaliate (probably paid no attention). The Acura TL has 270hp, again, they didn't give a fig.
2. Benz has updated their V-6 to a 3.5, BMW didn't retaliate.
3. Lexus comes with the IS 350, next thing we know, a 335 is confirmed, a turbo to battle a N/A car.

This is a BIG deal. This also means, there might be more turbo BMWs coming

Prolly because in their own test comparisons between the IS350 and 330i, BMW knew that the Lexus had definately one-uped them (Finally) - a less expensive, faster, better looking, higher quality, more maintenance free car in the IS350. Lets hope that Lexus pays attention when they see the sales shift (after the 335i comes out): Then we might see the IS350 6MT!
