Minor rubbing in front- gone now!

Stock suspension- not lowered!

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum and Lexus. Always been and still BMW guy. Just picked 2010 IS AWD for the winter. I love everything about the car except the stock height and wheels. I am a noob at this AWD wheel fitment thing. I am planning to drop the car with Tanabe Springs; 1" drop I believe and planning to get the following setup. Please let me know if this setup will work. I do not want to do any fender work. Setup as as follows:
19x8.5 ET 40
19x9.5 ET 40

Thank you in advance

Wheels should fit fine, but whether or not the wheels would rub depends on the tire size. You should be safe from fender work, but you may be rubbing the fender liner on big dips/speedbumps with the OEM shocks. Again, this is dependent on the tire size you choose.

another set of wheels i am looking at is:
19x8.5 ET35
19x9.5 ET35

Will this generate any issues? what tire size would you suggest I be running? Thank you i advance.

My summer tire setup for the front is 19x8 +37 with 235/35 tires. You should be fine if you run those tires up front, but the rear may have a noticeably visible stretch.. I would suggest 255/30/19 all around so you can rotate tires. Or, if you want to run a staggered setup, 235/35 up front and 275/30 in the rear will give you the least risk of trouble with the AWD system. Those are the sizes I'm running on my staggered wheels, which are 19x8 +37 and 19x10.5 +43.

Run tire sizes 225/35/19 in the front, and 265/30/19 in the back. Since you have an AWD model, you have to keep the rolling diameter of the wheel within close range or you could risk damage to your differential. These tire specs will keep that diameter in check. You won't run into any issues with fitment with your specs either. Just make sure you use the right tire sizes, or you can end up making a costly mistake.

Otherwise, run the same spec wheel on all four corners. This will avoid that potential problem and allow you to continue to rotate your tires and maximize their usage.

Also I suggest you check out pictures of a 1 inch drop. Its barely noticeable and most people regret not going lower. H &R springs are a good place to start in my opinion (1.4 inch drop)

so, the tire sizes you both suggested for the rears will have a noticeable stretch look? I am not run this setup all year around. Maybe just 5-6 months per year

I have this exact set up with 235/35/19 and 255/35/19 rear. No Problem after lower for 1.4 inches. Front will rub just very very little over big bumps, every once in a while. Nothing to worry about. But If you go lower than 1.4"-1.5" then it will start rub more often. Rear no problem.

For AWD I would go

225/35/19 and 265/30/19

Or

235/35 and 275/30

But you will rub in the rear if you go 275/30/19 with 9.5+35

I agree, I've got 10.5 +43 and natural camber, I'd be rubbing hard if I corrected camber by 1 degree. No rubbing right now though
