Now that I have my IS, what alarm should I go with?
I really want an alarm that will let me know if someone is tampering with my car without all the other features like unlocking the doors or automatic start. I want a simple set up, our car has get features already. Is it possible to do this?

Well the only type of alarm that comes to mind that shows you where and when someone is messing with the car, are the ones that come with LCD screens.. and from what I know the ones that have the LCD screen come already with the auto start. good luck

I too would like an aftermarket alarm.. (w/ auto start) and shock sensors, but
I'd wait until the installers become a little more acustom to the wiring
of our cars... You dont want to be a guniea pig do you?

I'm hoping that a viable remote start option becomes available, preferably direct from Lexus in the US. I know that the new Avalon (with push-button start), already offers a dealer-installed remote starter.

there are few big after market alarm brand,
I had used compustar before, and I loved it, but so far there is no kit (module) for the IS yet
another good brand would be clifford.
i'm on a hunt for the first aftermarket alarm that can be install on an IS w/o losing any of the function

As a guy who used to install alarms back in the day, I can recommend the Viper security system which is one of the top rated and includes the monitor thingy that you're looking for in one of its many packages. The only problem is that like the other people here mentioned, that package would be a waste of money in the sense that you already have most of the features of that alarm included with your IS security system.
Also, another thing... that monitor thingy sucks in my opinion... . one time I was with a friend of mine at a shopping center and I guess he had the sensitivity of the alarm in a high setting, so every 5 min or so he was getting an alert on his "monitor" and was going out every time to check on the car, only to find out that nothing had happened and it was probably that a car passing by his vehicle had alerted... .. he did not have any peace of mind with that thing and ended disabling that feature...
In my opinion, save your money and just make sure that you park your car in well-lit or high traffic areas and you should be OK. The IS features a pretty good security system for what I've seen in this forum.

Thanks guys for your help, I think I might stick with the factory alarm system for now. Hopefully the japan alarm will hit US. I'll wait to see what happens, don't want to lose the door handle feature.

I've talked to Steve over at http://www.luxurymotorworks.com/ and he said they're going to release their remote start and sense-o-shock alarm upgrade in 6-8 weeks. Price is ~$300.
