Default Factory HID question

The factory HID bulb is a 4300k. Can I replace just the bulb to a 6000k or a 8000k. Will the factory ballast hold up to the new bulbs. Anyone with oem hid's upgrade bulbs.

you can get 6000k, but it won't put out as much lights as 4300k.

you'll get dimmer output and a color change. oem philips D2S is almost 800 lumens brighter than bulbs with ~6000k or something like that.

I was thinking of getting D2R 30000K Xenon HID's...you guys think they'd be brighter? Also, would it be H4 bulbs?

The D2R and the H4 are types of bulbs.......

If you order D2R's, they are not going to fit in anything other than an OE HID set up. So, if your looking to convert your H11 set up to HID, you'll need the H11 base converted to carry the D2R bulb...Zenondepot.com and a few others have kits for this....

H11 - Bulb size for Non-HID equipped vehicles
D2S - HID Capsule (bulb size) for IS250/350 for HID equipped vehicles
D2R - HID Capsule (bulb size) for IS300

S=Projector Style Headlamp Assy
R=Reflector Style Headlamp Assy

Just had to clear that up

Now I know what bulb I'll need if I ever want to upgrade . Has anyone upgraded their oem hid's yet?

I wouldn't "upgrade" the oem HID--the higher the temperature, the bluer and lower light output. 4300k gives the whitest and brightest light.

I just really miss how bright the GS 430 lights are. If anyone has a '06 gs 300/430 and a '06 is 250/350...they know the difference. Lexus should've made the new IS series as bright.

That's why I want to know if anyone has been unhappy with the brightness of their oem setup and decided to upgrade the bulb to a brighter output. If the 4300k is a better light I most likely will stick with it. I dunno yet.

I myself was really thinking of going all out and getting 30,000k or settle for 12,000k. But as people have been saying...it's not gunna be brighter? 30,000k i figured would get me tickets everynight. But hmm 12000k?
