Hi all, just wondering what this noise is from , after I shut the car off and open the door I hear this motor in the dash run for a few seconds, like something is adjusting. Any thoughts.

Its the power steering motor locking up i believe

Yes the wheel lock, tug on the wheel while you open the door, you will feel it lock up

It's the steering lock. It prevents the wheel from turning, making the car more difficult to steal.

Thanks , so the lock is electric and has a motor to prevent the wheel from being turned why the car is off. Never heard of this pretty cool.

On a car without push-button start, a spring loaded cam pops into place (locking the steering wheel) when the ignition key is removed. Since the IS doesn't have a key, they needed to engineer an alternative solution.
