Default What is new version of Nav DVD?

I see that a new Lexus Nav DVD is out for the IS 250/350. The version I have is 5.1. Will this one be 6.1? Anyone know what is new on it?

Thanks.

New already. The car isn't even 3 months old yet. Will the dealership provide a free upgrade or do you need to keep buying (from where)?

My Nav has pretty good information in terms of roads and POIs but there is some data still absent.

I think it is new. See here.

I wanted to be sure it was new before I buy it.

I am pretty sure that our cars have the lastest generation. On that link it showed 1 to 4 generations. When in the past my other two nav systems I had to pay for the upgrades.

I agree with you . You would think they would have given us the latest update our cars are so new.

The IS350 which uses Gen5 already has the latest software.
Gen2 through Gen4 can use the update. (spoke with Parts Dept)

even if a new DVD comes out next year, it's not absolutely necessary to update annually, esp at $268. The maps don't change all that much from year to year, maybe a few more POI's and new roads.

actually, there was 1 year where the # of POIs went from 2 million to 5 million. That is quite a change. Unfortunately, there is nothing listed about what this latest update gives (even for the Gen 2-4 systems).

I also got a confirmation email from Darrel from Lexus-Parts that the IS 350 already has the latest disc.

So since we have no idea what the changes are if any and what is the time frame from old disc to new disc, you can't easily say the upgrade is too soon. Supposed the data on your brand new IS350/250 disc is 2 years old already? It's not very new, that's for sure. To me a couple hundred bucks is not all that much especially if I can let go of my old disc to someone who might "need" it.

I have no idea where some places are located and when I put in the house number it says no such house number on this street and then I'm dead in the water (unless I'm missing something). Happened to me on Tuesday. A new updated disc would be worth it to me.
