Quoted $1000 For XM Install
Park Place Lexus in Plano Texas quoted me $1000 to add XM to the IS350 w/Nav I have ordered.
Has anyone had XM installed on their new IS? If so what was the price and how is the sound quality?

I have a IS250 that is arriving at the port tomorrow and XM is being installed for $486. I have a deal sheet right in front of me. I was told that if it was installed at the dealership, it would cost aprox. $700 - $800 but since it is being installed at the port, it costs less for some reason.

I would be willing to do it for the $400-500 range, but 1k seems too expensive for SAT radio....plus you have to factor in you would need to pay the monthly fee like a cable bill right?

Park Place may not be the best place to go in order to get the best deal. Try Sewell too. Sometimes it pays to shop around.

Also, do the Texas dealerships really have XM yet? I called earlier this week and was told it would be Feb 1st before they would have the Receiver Kit. It's part # 861000W150.

I apologize in advance if this question has been answered already. If this is a dealer-installed option, where is the antenna placed? My local Lexus service & parts department are saying it's the same XM box as the ones for the GS-line but after reading here, I don't believe them. (Plus, they asked $643 for the box and install. Ouch!) I've been an XM subscriber since early 2002 and dying for OEM install in my IS 250. Finding a proper place in the IS 250 for my SkyFi2 has been a royal pain and rather not deal with it. (I had a Pioneer head and XM receiver in my previous vehicle which was very nice.)
Cheers.
Cheers.

I'm not sure what the exact difference will be other than a cheaper price. I am going through Alderson Lexus in Lubbock. I live in Amarillo and they are the first dealership to get the color/combo that I wanted. I have been in close contact with Sewell in Dallas and I really like them too. The guy I am working with at Alderson is Al Griggs, great guy. I have been told that and it shows on my deal sheet that XM is going to be installed at the Port on 12/1. I have heard that some people said it won't be here until Feb. but I am hopeing that my dealer is right because I really want this all done at one time. I remains to be seen if XM will really be installed in the car when it arrives in two weeks. I will let you know.

$1000 is too high. They are ripping you off. You can get XM/Sirius installed at any other dealer for $500. If they are throwing in a lifetime subscription to XM/Sirius then perhaps it would be worth it over the life of your car. Otherwise, tell them to shove it or to give you an additional $500 off the car to compensate.
