I am interested in finding more information on this as well. I plan to purchase an AWD 250 so I can drive it all year around, but I can't get over those "Civic" looking wheels that come on the AWD. The wheel well gap and the skinny wheels really take away from the sporty look of the car..
Ideally, I would like to get a set of staggered 18's with performance tires for the summer months and use the stockers for the winter. If the staggered setup will mess up the computer on the AWD, I could settle for some 18's that are wider than the stock wheels to bring the wheel out flush with the fender. Anybody tried this setup on an AWD 250 yet?
TIA

You don't necessarily want equal traction to all 4 tires, but you DO want whatever the IS AWD was set up for. If the torque split is 50/50, and the stock wheel/tires were all the same size, i would stick with identical wheel/tire sizes.
In most cases, all else being equal, an AWD car with rearward biased traction performs better, but how the torque is distributed is really out of your hands at this point unless you have an EVO or an STI with a driver-controlled center differential.

Our factory Rep has the G-Spyder 18's...
installed on his AWD IS250. Not staggered but the front wheel spec. I think it's the same part no. as the GS300 G-Spyder 18's. It looks fine and works well. BTW the IS and GS AWD's have more power to the rear wheels normally (70%/30%) and can redirect to (50%/50%) automatically if needed. The AWD is a little taller in the saddle than the RWD so it has more gap.
