Question Which bluetooth phone?

Placed my order for a Tungsten Pearl/Black IS250AWD+Lux+Nav this morning. So fingers crossed I will be joining the club by December. In the meantime I need to get myself a bluetooth phone (my current cell phone is almost 4 years old so it is well overdue!) so I can fully play with my new toy once it arrives.

So my question is, what bluetooth phone are you using with your IS/Nav and on which network?

Longer term perhaps we can turn this thread in to a comprehensive list of phones people have tried with/without success.

I used a Sony Ericsson K700i on a demo. It worked fine.

FZ1,
I too have or will have in another week a blackberry 7520. Does this mean I will be able to use voice commands to make a telephone call? I'm new to bluetooth technology.

Except for Nextel, I think every company has at least one bluetooth phone?

Verizon has bluetooth with what they call "limited access" which means it works, but you can't download your phonebook into nav screen.
But perhaps some new technology has been introduced lately I'm not aware of.

The most popular phone I've seen is the Razor by Cingular due to the "cool factor".

does verizon work at all? I think my phone is "blue tooth compatible" but I don't know if that really means it would work....who would have answers to these questions? or is it one of those trial and error kind of things...?

Yeah, they work. I've tested 3 of them. But you can't transfer your phone book into nav screen. There's a "approved list" of phones on Lexus dealer daily website, but there's only like 5 or 6 phones on there or something. It got to the point where I just stopped checking back to the list. I think most dealers were doing tests on their own employee phones just to see what's up.
Worse case scenario, phones and contracts have a 2 week return policy so if you're not sure you can always go down to the store and "test drive" phones.

Yes. In case you are confused, the system in the car is what facilitates the voice commands, it really has nothing to do with Bluetooth. Blutooth is just a radio technology allowing devices to connect wirelessly and securely.

That's what I did, and I ended up throwing away my V710 on Verizon and keeping the Cingular RAZR

The only phone on Verizon that might work is the Samsung i730. It's a big black SmartPhone (basically a PDA/Phone combination running MS PocketPC). Nice phone, but a little big.

If anyone has questions on phones and Lexus, I know a decent amount about this stuff, but it looks pretty well covered thus far.

Default bluetooth phones

go to Lexus.letstalk.com. this is the place to see what is compatible. At Lexus of Glendale they told me of a guy that program our IS to communicate with other bluetooth phones. Check out my threads from a few days ago.

Yes you can absolutely do that, but I find that list to be somewhat conservative.

Speaking of V710, I hated that phone it was the worst I ever owned, but the Bluetooth worked in a limited capacity. Too bad the phone itself started falling apart otherwise I'd still own it.
