Default What happened to the 2-door version?

I've placed deposit on the new IS350 of 4 door already, but in a huge curiousity, is there going to be a 2 door anytime soon (within 1~2 year) ???

i just don't want to see the G35-effect (coupe comes out = bye bye 4 door) on this car.

no specific words on that yet, but don't worry, you are not the only one who wants the IS coupe

I'm wondering about that too, all we' ve heard of is there will be a 2 door hardtop convertible version based on the LF-C concept, I think they need to have a solid top coupe version in addition to that, & a real 6MT with a clutch as well.

IS vs 3 is SERIOUS this time. That is why the IS debuted at Geneva with the 3. Next year, BMW will debut the coupe/convert and so will Lexus debut their IS coupe/convert

If it looks anything nearly as cool as the LF-C (sans the butt) it'll be a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE (did I mention HUGE?) hit!

But I doubt if Lexus will be bold enough to release a production vehicle that cool.

Hey, Lexus is turning around. The new GS is fairly bold, but the new IS is VERY aggressive engineering. 310 HP out of a 6 beats the Acura RL's 300 for most out of an NA V6 (keep in mind the compression is higher, DOHC on the IS's, but still 310 HP ). Infiniti can get 298 HP out of theirs sacrificing torque and hooking up a 6MT to it. Lexus planned on making this a TRUE 3 Series fighter, unlike the previous generation which was simply brought because they had it in Japan and felt like bringing it over here.

Lexus dealers are taking deposits already for this car? They have not even announced the prices yet. My logic would be that if you put a deposit down this early, don't expect any savings, you will be paying top dollar no budging since they already know you will do anything to get the car.

I will most likely buy 1 year after release maybe even 2007 model, but never the first couple months, demand too high & so will be price.

Yes, but they ' ll also be the first to drive around in a hot spanking new model that ' ll get stares of admiration everywhere For some car buyers, that's worth the extra $$.

The IS Convertible Coupe is supposed to debut 18 months after the sedan. Since the latter debuted at the 2005 Geneva and New York Auto Shows in March/April 2005, that means the 2-door IS will probably debut in fall 2006 at the Paris and Los Angeles Auto Shows.

thanx for the input guys, my only conern still stays with the question, let's just say if the time is not an issue here, will there be a 2 door version?

and to a previous question, yes dealers are taking $1,000.00 refundable deposit so they can put you on the waiting list.

IMO, if there's an definite answer saying that Lexus will absolutely make an 2 door version IS350, then my next step would relocate my deposit from the 4door to the 2door.

I think there will be a 2 door version, but the question is whether it will only come in convertible form . . .

I'm pretty sure they're going to focus on the hybrid version before they focus on the 2 door version.

Are we even sure that we'll have a hybrid IS yet ? with all this talk about a IS460 & also the hardtop convertible which they already made a concept car of . . .

Agree 100%. We should see a V8 IS and/or a 2-door IS way before a hybrid one. As I said before in other threads, a hybrid powertrain doesn't make much sense for the IS and there's zero sign that Lexus is intending to make one so far. There are plenty of signs on the other hand for a V8 IS and a 2-door IS. So there.
