Default OBX headers? PPE clone?

Was strolling on eBay and found OBX headers that looks very similar to the PPE headers. Can't find any dyno or reviews on them. They are significantly cheaper than the PPE.

OBX has been around since my Honda days 15 years ago. They were known for producing cheap made in China products. Save for PPE.

I looked on his IS250 track/daily build thread. I couldn't find anything regarding the OBX.

OBX headers are very popular on muscle cars. Seems like a lot of people are running them on Camaros and can vouch for the quality.

But there are some other people who have horror stories about them. Seems like their company is getting mixed feedback. I do see a authorized distributor of OBX headers local in the Bay Area. Might check these out in real life to check the welds.

PPE headers for the IS250 and IS350 are different due to engine displacement as far as PPE headers are concerned. The tube OD is different between the two. They are interchangeable as far as bolt pattern. These seem to be one size fits all.

In the Lexus world, PPE is known for their quality.

Those weren't obx. They were shorty megan knockoffs, not ppe knockoffs.

Pipe diameter will be one difference between ppe and obx. If you search, I think you'll find more than a few people having problems with obx, and not much support. But the biggest difference will probably be the collector. PPE use a pretty good one and I'd bet that obx's is not.

Yeah I found the thread. It was in his massive turbo thread. Pretty sad how he never got his car dynoed and he ended up selling his car and the turbo kit.

I haven't done any research yet. But don't we have to smog our cars once at 6 years and every 2 years after? Are you catless right now?

OBX and the word quality shouldn't be in the same sentence. Yes, they have done better over the years; however, you're still paying for inferior metals AND welds.

Yes smog is after initial 6 years and 2 years after. I have oem headers back on the car. Getting the car to "pass" can get expensive.

But Holy hell on the PPE price. $800 before ceramic coating or high flow cats (which probably are the real power adders). Another $290 for the cats and who knows how much for the coating. That's dumping A LOT of money for headers.
Also, the 16hp increase was done with no cats at all.

This. That is why I would rather go with Nitrous than headers. I would also need to remove the headers every 2 years for smog.
