I was contacted last week by Putnam Lexus via email. Said that my valve spring job over the recall needed to be re-evaluated as something might've gone wrong. I called them when I saw this. I asked if it was just a technician might've made a mistake, they said yes. I asked if I could take it nearby, they said no, Toyota inspectors are going to oversee this and it has to be done at Putnam.

As a result I have to have the car shipped from Los Angeles (where I live) to San Francisco over this issue since the work was done there before (Putnam pays for that). It's not possible to do this here in LA, even though there's another dealership right up the street.

Anybody have any opinions on this? Anyone been through it before? Seems like a pretty major inconvenience for me. I mean they're providing a rental car and everything, but to lose it to San Francisco for who knows how long is disconcerting.

Geez, that sounds like a huge hassle. I think they should at a minimum have it set up so you can just go to your local dealer, drop off the car, get a loaner and let them handle everything else. Maybe even throw in something extra for the hassle.

Sounds fishy......... like they're trying to CYA. Contact Lexus in Torrance - that's ridiculous shipping the car from LA to SF - any Lexus dealer can do the work if it needs done.
