Default Sunroof rattle FIXED with pics

So after reading many threads and searching the interweb i'm surprised i didnt come across this fix.

Slide open your shade and there is a plastic guard in between the shade and the glass.

[IMG][/IMG]

Check to see if there is movement, i tapped it in the middle and sure enough the exact same noise. I can see by the passenger corner (there is a pivot joint) it felt loose and the movement was coming from there. Grabbed a napkin from the glove compartment and stuffed it in there to stop the movement and it worked!

I'm gonna cut some wooden shims and wedge it in where the napkin is rite now. That plastic piece doesn’t move and the wedge wont interfere with the operation of the roof.

Is there a permanent solution for this fix?

Perfectly fixes the issue for me too. It's the drip rail. HOWEVER paper towels wedged in my sunroof is a less than IDEAL solution. Anything else come up? think replacing this part will solve the issue, perhaps the tabs that slide on the aluminium rail have worn down just a little causing the rattling?

I would use one of those stress relieving *****, more durable they paper, and they don't absorb water either

I was thinking of something similar, it needs to be able to easily side along the aluminum rail though. Like a little piece of fabric but with some thickness.
