I needed some help jacking up my is250, I can't get my jack to the bottom jack points , so I tried to jack it from the side jack stand points and it bent the lining is this normal? And is it ok to jack up the car from the side jack stand points ? Also since the lining bent I'm worried that the jack points aren't that strong is it safe to place the jack stands there or should I place them in a different place. Thanks for any help.

You need to use a jack/jack stand pad to provide support so you do not bend the metal tabs at the jack points.

Some people will take a piece of hard rubber, like a hockey puck, and cut a groove in it for a DIY solution.

our jackpoints are horribly weak. ive crushed two completely flat. i now use the hockey puck idea but i made mine out of wood.

The jack points are made to be used with the 'flat tire' screw jack that is stored by your spare tire... they work perfectly with that. They are not meant to be used with a standard floor jack without a pad of some sort.

Get some 2X10s and make a ramp ... then drive your car up on them so your Jack can reach the center jack points

Almost all cars these days have them. If you bend the little tab you are ok, those jack points are double walled for that reason so there is the extra support.


As for the jack points I put my jack a little bit to the side of those tabs and jack the car from there. Those tabs are where I put my jack stands at. I couldn't find a jack point the middle of the from frame because its covered with all the plastic underbody (does the f-sport only have these?).

Where is the center jack point? I can't find mine its covered by my plastic underbody....

There is no "center" jack point...only ones are right behind the front wheels and right in front of the rear wheels, and all this information is located in your owner's manual

By center jack points I meant the two you are talking about as they are in the center line of the car (and not on the sides)

This is true , he also posted that over 7 years ago. And there are center jack points as shown in the illustration for the floor jacks.
