Default Fiberglass Subwoofer Enclosures

Looked around the forums a bit to see other custom fiberglass enclosures but didn't see a specific thread for others to show theirs. I saw a couple individual threads on a custom built one and the 4080 enclosure.

Curious if anyone else has built custom fiberglass enclosures for the IS other than 4080.

Here's mine, looking to upgrade the sub soon.

That's very clean. There was one guy who posted pics on how he did it and there was Jon Jon that had a SICK setup with one on each side painted white and a trunk lid done in fiberglass.

Here's mine, on opposite side as yours.
Honestly, for my taste, my Elemental Design 10'' is plenty.

I'm no audiophile. But I believe the ED 10 I have only requires .50 cubic foot if airspace in sealed enclosure. Im fairly close if not slightly over that.

I suppose audiophile can mean different things to people, but a 10" provides a very good balance for audio systems in a cars. I am also an audiophile but I have never touched my sound system in the lexus. I prefer to have 150k watts on each side of me with a concert sound system

would that be .5 of space before or after the sub has taken up its space?
i dont think you have that much after the sub is installed

KennyD, where did you get that enclosure? I've been looking for a side mounted one for a while now.

I made it. Not difficult, just takes a bit of planning and patience. If you're the least bit mechanically inclined, you can get it done.

PM me if you want to see photos of the process.

Likely at little less after installation of subwoofer. The basket and magnet construction was not that big. I eyeballed it for the most part. It fits perfect, doesn't budge, and sounds seamlessly with my OEM non-ML system.

Is it perfect? Nah.
Does it sound good to me? Yeah.
Can I build a more spec-precise fiberglass box? Probably.

I was concerned with airspace myself, but space retention is important. The long fiberglass box that I've seen around the forum takes up too much space for my taste. After testing my box, it sounded good enough to be a keeper. I was quite surprised at the quality of ED Subwoofers, because I got it used for $50. So far so good.

Maybe I'm an amateur in this audio game. Whatever. It's all about personal taste right?

That's the beauty of audio. It's all subjective. If it sounds good to you, that's all that really matters.

eD does make some pretty good equipment, too bad terrible management put them under.
