Default 2012 Lexus IS350 repairs after accident

I have a 2012 Lexus IS 350 F Sport Package that was in an accident in late December. The front bumper, fender, and driver side door panel had to be replaced. I noticed that after the repairs were made, the bumper and the headlights do not fit in correctly as did factory. Its a factory bumper, but there is a little gap between the bottom of the left headlight and the bumper as wells as the right side headlight. It does not fit in correctly as when I first purchased it, like a tongue and groove fit.

Also another thing that is annoying is that I hear wind noises almost all of the time I am driving especially 40 mph and up. There is no wind noise on the passenger side at all, and I did mention it to the repair center, but they make it sound like its all in my head.

Is their any tips as to why it has the wind noise? The noise is not inside the vehicle but mostly swooshes that are heard near the top frame of the drivers side door. I'm not too sure if there wasn't enough padding or something. Please any advise would help.

Thank you fellow CL buddies.

maybe check if the weather strip is secured on the door? not sure if they will cause wind noise.

My advice to you would be to take it back to the place that repaired it. Have them fix it the right way.

I had an issue with a body shop when my IS250 was repaired. I kept bringing it back, and back, and back. When they clearly couldn't fix it, or for insurance purposes, "bring my car back to pre-collision condition", I called the insurance company G***O because it was one of their express repair centers. I asked specifically what qualifications this body shop has that makes them so great? I explained my issue to them. My car was inspected by a upper adjuster, the car was attempted to be repaired for the last time, then the body shop bought the car from me because they couldn't get my car back to "pre-collision condition". I had old pic of when I first got the car and it help tremendously, especially when stuff just didn't line up right. Hope you can get them to fix it correctly!

Everytime I mention it, I felt brushed off. They kept saying things like, the bumpers a factory bumper (implying too bad, thats what you're gonna get), or there shouldn't be any wind noise. I brought it back twice already. And its definitely not in "precollision" status. The accident was not my fault. They keep saying that they fix hundreds of Lexus', but I'm pretty sure none of them is a 2012 with F Sport package. I just feel rushed every single time I bring it to them, the detail that they put into it is horrible. The driver side door trim is not even aligned with the door trim from the back seat door. And one of the black trim pieces by the fender keep popping up. I have to snap it back into place every few days.

As far a the bumper is concerned, I have that problem but its probably due from being low. Show them the gap and have them remove the bumper and have them reinstall the front bumper.

Did you use the body shop that your insurance recommend? If so, call your insurance and explain everything to them. They should help you deal with the body shop.

I have the same issue with my IS250 but I don't mind. People don't seem to notice those kind of things.

do you have pictures of the accident and after? was there frame damage? Reason why I ask is after an accident your car is not gonna be the same as it was when it came from the factory. Body shops can only do so much to fix collision damages

I feel your frustration. I've been in several collisions in my previous vehicles and had to experience the same thing. Parts wouldn't line up right or paint wasn't matching like it was prior to the collision. It depends on the shop that does the work, some do work better than others. If your shop isn't working well with you, talk to your insurance company and explain the situation and they should be able to help you out and maybe even recommend another shop. Good luck!

Many insurance companies (not all) will guarantee repairs are made to your satisfaction if you use their recommended or approved shops. If you did use one of their shops, just contact your insurance company and tell them whats going on. They should be able to help make it right.

As far as the wind noise though, did you by chance happen to have the windshield replaced after the accident too? Some members have reported increased wind noise after having the front windshield replaced with a 3rd party windshield replacement instead of the Lexus OEM glass.

That's correct, in some cases the 3rd party glass might be thinner than Lexus oem and cause the cabin to be more noisy.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the feedback. I did use an approved body shop. They are actually what the Lexus dealers near here would send them to for repairs. I did not get the windshield replaced. Its just that they had taken out my driver side window in order to paint my car and I guess when they put it in things didnt aligned correctly. I will post up pics tomorrow. Thanks!!
