2012 Headlights - LED strip as a blinker?
Alright folks,
I'm pretty much done installing my 2012 headilghts. FYI, I did NOT know Sewell kits came prewired. The ones I bought were not prewired and it took a bit of testing to figure out which wires controlled the LED strip.
So far, I got them work like OEM (what I think is OEM):
1. When you turn on the parking lights, the LED strips turn on to 100% brightness
2. When you turn on the low beams, the LED strips dim down to 50% brightness
Moving on...
What do you guys think about using the LED strips as turn signals? (Like some Audi's)

Decided to be different for now, and make the LED's act like the turn signals + disabled orange turn signals. I'll eventually make it work like OEM, but for now, enjoy the pics.

Video with hazards on (acts the same when you use it as TurnSignals)

the Audi does not use the LED strip as a turn signal. It turns it off and the orange blinker comes on. I think thats pretty ugly. I think the strip blinkinb could look interesting enough. I dont know how good that is for the life of it but again im not an expert in that field.

Here's a vid I found on youtube... the LED's turn orange in this vid.. the ones I saw stayed white.
The other 2 relays in the picture were needed to make the LED strips flash. (Flash at 100% or at 50%... depending on if parking light is on or if lowbeam is on)
EDIT:
removed wire colors as it may differ and I don't want to be responsible for shortening your new headlights!
Basically, there are 3 wires that control your LED strip. Find them via test light

Interesting ... I considered making my LEDs flash for signals but it's against the law here in Texas to have white lights as signals . We wouldn't pass inspection . unless you got the hook up. But nice wiring skills

It's illegal to have WHITE light in the rear, but not in the front
§ 547.324. TURN SIGNAL LAMPS REQUIRED.
(d) A turn signal lamp shall emit:
(1) a white or amber light, or a color between white
and amber, if the lamp is mounted on the front of the vehicle; or
(2) a red or amber light, or a color between red and
amber, if the lamp is mounted on the rear of the vehicle.

You'll be opening a can of worm of Traffic TICKETS.
I believe DOT vehicle code mentioned that the front turn signals has to be AMBER. It's basically up to CHP or Police to enforce that.
Flashing white lights are reserved for EMERGENCY RESPONSE vehicles like Police cars, Ambulance, Fire trucks, etc...
That's why NO OEM has white signal turn lights

Very interesting concept. Looks amazing at 100% brightness. These LED headlights/bumper lights are being used by basically every car company now. I saw a new Honda accord this morning and it also had bumper LED's.
