Default iPhone 5 Lightning Cable Compatible?

I have a 2012 IS 350 with nav.

Has anyone determined whether the new iPhone 5, with the lightning cable, is compatible with our systems -- when connected by that cable? Does it work the same as the iPhone 4 and 4s?

Thank you.

Would it matter? You can always stream the music through Bluetooth whether or not the cord works. I only use if for charging and even then, rarely in my car.

Default BT v. Wired Playback

I've got two cars that allow BT streaming. In both, the wired playback sounds better. YMMV.

Thanks for the response.

Using the supplied lightning USB cable that come with the iPhone 5, the answer is no, it is not compatible. The cable does not support iPod out. What I found interesting is that when you plug the cable in, the battery begins to charge. I have read that Apple will have a compatible cable out in the near future. Won't know for sure until Apple decides to put one out in the market place. As for me, I'll make due with Bluetooth audio. My ears aren't that delicate (too many 223 rounds) and when I sing, it doesn't matter how good the audio is.

Default Works on the 2013 RXH

Interestingly, I found a really good thread over there with an excellent lead post that list all of the things that the Lightning cable does -- and it seems like it does all of them.

Yet, there is a post in that thread saying that it didn't work.

My iPhone 5 should be here, sooon, and I'll try it and report back here.

Thanks for the responses.

I tried it with my new phone and the lightning cable and it doesn't work. It charges... but it doesnt show the ipod interface. Like everyone else said, you can use the bluetooth perfectly.
One cool thing is you can use SIRI by presseing the button on the phone and then speaking through the car stereo... I can now text from my IS!
