Default Considering Changing Front Seats

I really like the F Sport front seats they look awesome but are way too expensive even if I could find them off a salvage yard Lexus. There are a lot of race type seats on ebay that look cool but I don't know how easy it is to take the factory seats out, and then how about needing new seat rails, and will the airbag light come on?

Anyone ever swap out the front seats??

i love all the adjustment of factory seat. those racing seats are nice but not suitable to lexus unless you got racing style car - only my second cents.

Ventilated, not cooled. And at least in my car, ventilation so weak that it's hardly even noticeable.

Oh? What's the difference between ventilated and cooled?

Mine still seems to work fine haha

Cooled seats use air ducted from the A/C evaporator. Ventilated seats just blow ambient air from under the seat.

Ventilated means it's not actually pulling cooled air. It's just using the fan on the bottom of your seat to pull up air from the floor. Some people have done a little trick where they wedge a little piece of cardboard under the floor vent under the seat to direct cooled air towards the fan, I've done this myself and it does appear to work a bit, nothing drastic though.

Hmmm, either you enjoy driving around with no pants, or your ventilated seats are working a heck of a lot better than mine are. I'm guessing the latter.

I suppose that some time before the weather gets warmer I ought to check under the seat to see if my fan fell off, was mounted backwards, or if a piece of protective film wasn't removed before the car was delivered and is blocking the airflow. I can hear the fan running, but don't feel a thing on my butt, even on the highest setting.

What are the implications of removing the front seats along with their air bags? With the bags disconnected won't there be warning light?

Edit - Well I just did some research and answered my own question. Apparently TRD makes a "dummy plug" for this purpose:

Occasionally I'll drive with no pants. That's what the tinted windows are for I can't hear the fan...ever. Probably because of my exhaust and music volume though lol It gets pretty cool even on 1 sometimes. I don't see a need for it as I don't let the cabin get hot so it usually stays off or on heat during the morning.

If you haven't owned a car with these seats before try driving in a car with one of those to see first. Few years ago I put one exactly like that one in my old project Bimmer and didn't really like it. I'm not a big guy and I felt very tight sitting in (not on) it. Yes it hold you in better during fast turns but it wasn't comfortable for a daily car.
