This thread worries me. I have an 07 IS250 RWD with 73k and haven't replaced mine yet. I'll be driving from the CA to VA in 2 months I hope my water pump doesn't fail.

if i were you i would have a talk with the service manager, i was told the same thing and sure as **** last week on a long drive it died, and almost destroyed $700 worth of batteries in my car. thank god i had them or els i would have been stuck 2 hours from home. dont buy a lexus alt, its way over priced and has no warrantee for the part, mechman alternators is about $200 cheaper and come with a 3 year no questions asked warrantee. im replacing my water pump and alt on wednesday, ill snap some pics while im in there and make a diy thread.

I believe it,My son's "bullet proof" 2004 Camry had to get a new water pump at 68K That surprised me then.
I'm really thinking of an extended warranty on my Wife's IS-250,and on My RX-350.

Took mi 06 IS 250 in for 60K inspection last week and pump was starting to leak. Had not been bad enough for me to notice yet. Anyways had it replaced. Extended warranty covered it.

I would for the IS for sure, not sure about the RX since I don't know common issues with them.
But either way, on a Lexus it doesn't take much work at a dealer to equal the cost of what you would have paid for an extended warranty.
