Just recently used this DIY myself, made switching 2007 headlights for 2012 headlights really simple. The hardest part for me was replacing the relay flasher. It was a PITA to get to the relay flasher in such a confined space.

Mad props to the OP and many thanks.

http://is.sewellparts.com/accessorie...2007/2400.html

so I need these lights, the fully loaded package, and all i really need to do is dremel cut the headlight holder.

but sewell website states this:
Our exclusive, revised lamp kit includes everything required to retro-fit your 2006 to 2010 IS250, IS350 or IS-F with a seamless ready-to-go method for installation to the stylish look of the latest 2012MY LED Headlamps.

Did they revise this process since OP posted his how-to or Sewell just failed to mention the gotchas of this project?

No. High beam is completely functional when DRL's are turned off.

This is a very good DIY. Thank you.

I have to replace the driver's side assembly, where do I get a 1) used one or 2) Quality aftermarket replacement. I am prepared to just replace it since with the condensation that happened, it actually rusted inside the headlamp.

I have been to fleabay and mazon and have seen aftermarket assemblies. Are they any good? And usually what fails, ballast, bulb?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for this thread, I bought a Denso Ballast, OEM and using this DIY, I successfully did the change over. I had to splice though and it worked.

I had condensation on the DR side headlamp and procastinated. It ruined the ballast, all rusted out. I sealed the headlamp and hopefully cured it.

I am 2 for 3 on headlamp failure, the RX and now the IS. I have enhanced warranty on the RX after I sealed it! I think they will issue the enhanced headlamp warranty to the IS as well. They should.
again thanks for this great DIY,

Is the Sewell website no longer available to those who haven't registered with them prior to their close date? I would love some OEM or replicas at a fair price.

Well the replacement ballast which was an original Denso one is not kaput. It worked for a while. The bad thing I did was I spliced it. Now it is not working. Not the bulbs, tested it many times.

I finally went to utube and saw a DIY which actually splits the housing so you can actually get into replacing the ballast the right way.

I may have to go down this route.

There goes another set of ballast.

What I should have done when I found water was getting inside the headlamp was to seal it immediately. I waited and lucked out. Moisture severely corroded the ballast.

One thing that is stumping me is how do you pull the main connector? Just unhook and pull away? Thanks for any advise.
