Deep Roof Ding didn't see when purchasing
Yep, thank god the internet is anonymous.
Purchased a used 2008 IS250 from another luxury dealer about a week ago. Someone had traded it in, and it was in perfect shape. Looked at everything really well, except apparently one small space behind the shark fin antenna right in the middle of the roof. I basically was not tall enough to see it.
Of course, after taking it to my parents for the first time, my dad wiped down the car and saw it. Basically, it's a C shaped scratch about the size of a quarter. It's deep. Almost like a bike fell off a roof rack or something. I'll upload pictures tomorrow.
It was patched up, and there isn't really a dent there, just a deep scratch where you can see the C shape, and it's rough to the touch.
Thoughts on repair? Also tempted to call the dealership and complain. They must have known it was there from the detail, which is where I'm guessing it was patched as well as it was. Incredibly angry at myself for not seeing it.

Call up some local paintless dent removal places (find reviews of ones in your area too - make sure its good work) and ask their opinion. I know its not really a dent anymore, but if anyone can advise you right on how to repair, it's probably them. If they offer to repair it with paint, don't bother, its usually better just left alone unless you have an easy to match color and they are just using touch up paint (you could do this on your own even)
Who knows where its from tho - could have been the previous owner patching it up or the dealership. But glad you didn't make this a "blame the dealership" thread

Yeah it was unfortunate they didn't point it out, but this is my bad. Good lesson, and it could have been much much worse.
Anyone have any suggestions in the Seattle area on where to go? Would definitely follow anyone's advice on here.

I also have a dent on the same place you have it and I bought my car new. I talked to the dent removal guy during EOS and he said he cannot do it. If you get it fixed, update us and the cost.

Might try this place. Seems honest enough, and maybe he can patch it decent enough. http://maps.google.com/maps/place?rl...ed=0CD0Q4gkwAA

Personally I would live with it, I wouldnt repair unless it really bothered you. Maybe you can put a tiny sticker on top.
If you take it to one of these scratch repair shops, the products they use are usually not the best quality paints. Sure they will blend it and the scratch will not show. But after time (long term) the repaired spot will age faster then the rest of the car. Being especially on the roof, the sun will eat it up faster.
Personally if you didnt notice it while inspecting the car then others most likely will not notice it either.
