I currently have a 1998 4runner with 317,000 miles on it. Bought it with a bad tranny. It was a shift solenoid. Shifts perfect now and purs. Original motor/trans. The lady has done the belts water pump ect around 100k, 200k and 300k. Going to be a winter/trail truck now.. This is still wonderful that there are so many people getting high mileage out of the newer lexus vehicles. This is why I can not fully switch from lexus to BMW. Just wish it had more manual shifts!

Just bought a 2006 IS250 and it has about 124k miles on it. A little on the higher side but I hope it will last 250,000+. It has gone through many owners and I don't know what has been replaced.

That's awesome how long OP was able to keep his car. My friend just recently gave me his old Corolla his dad bought back in 2000 and the mileage is somewhere in the 170,000's. It's stick shift and still runs great. Only think we've replaced on the car (I helped him when I could) were the brake pads twice (only because I got tired of hearing the semi metallic squeal when I pull up to stop lights, brake shims are amazing).
He also replaced the battery twice because he left it sitting when he purchased his new car. I just purchased a 07 IS250 and I hope I can get at least 60-70k miles out of it before I start having issues (it's at 99k). If the new car I get is anything like OP's Lexus, maybe I can keep it for a good 8+ years without many issues!

Just a lot of car washes. I mean a lot. The headlights are pretty beat up by rock chips but it still looks pretty decent. Let me put it for you this way, I fell in love with the IS since I saw the first commercial for the IS300 in 2000. When I got this car on August 21, 2006 I literally went in OCD mode for a good while. My wife used to wake up in the middle of the night and find me in the garage polishing the wheels.

I am right outside of 250,000 miles on my 2006 IS250. I have to say this is one of the most amazing, efficient, and low maintenance car that I will ever drive. All I have done is oil changes with MOBIL 1 full synthetic, replace the brakes every 50,000, replace O2 sesnor, 120,000 mile tune up, and replaced A/C compressor. I did not go by the Lexus Preferred Maintenance program. Now obviously with this many miles issues will come up, such as the transmission is starting to slip, rear axles are knocking, overheating if sitting in idle for more than 15 minutes in 100 degree heat and that's about it. It is still smooth in idle when in most cars when you hit 100,000+ miles you have to replace the motor mounts. I have modded my car with exhaust, rims, and slammed 4 inches off the ground. All in all if my car was to break down on me today I would walk away with a smile knowing that coming from a Mercedes C230 5 years ago with 120,000 miles that in the end had to be towed away from a couple of thousand dollars. I am a lifelong Lexus customer.

Bravo! Bravo!!! We love Lexus/Toyota! Just for grins, I have to tell you that we bought our '07 IS 350 WITH 130K+ miles!!! And the beater Civic that we drove to fetch it (The Lexus was 500 miles away!) rolled to 200K on the way home! I forgot to mention we also love Acura/Honda...and my '92 Acura Vigor only just gave up the ghost with 308K+ miles on the original motor/tranny...after going through all of the females (all of us heavy-footed) in the house!
We preach it to our customers: Maintenance is WAY less expensive than Repairs! Congrats on 250K...I fully expect you to see over 300K!!!

Most well build cars should last that long these days (although I'm not yet convinced that Europeans do yet).
The axles, O2 sensors, brakes, hoses, etc are wear items that usually need to be replaced at that mileage or earlier.
The transmission slipping, over heating sitting idles are NOT, at least if they are designed and maintained right. I think those "lifetime transmission fluid" is what makes it not lasting more than 250k miles and if Lexus design the system so that it can be changed easier, it would have lasted much longer than 250k on a RWD tranny. Idle overheating is likely a bad fan / fan relay / worn water pump / thermostat, and should be fixed instead of "it is expected at this mileage".
I'd expect mine to last at least 300k or more, it is certainly build well. However I'd bring mine in to get an ATF flush with the SnapOn flushing machine through the transmission coolant port instead of just leave it alone.

Appreciate your post about your 06 IS250, Im right there with you at 195k literally just replaced the transmission,rear axle is the next to charge but after any type of rattling is apparent. Ive had most recalls taken care of and pistons/water pump & over heating have been addressed. Are you gonna take advantage of the dash recal coming early this new year? Oh were thinking of updating the front bumper to a 12 face-lift feedback...not worth it due to cost? (Opinion) Thanks
