I used one 6" 6 LED strip per side as suggested. I just sent V-LEDs an email with regards to the color. The 5000K look closer to 6000K and don't match any of their other 5000K LEDs. I'm hoping they were mis-labeled.

Those of you that tapped the stock LED wires under the dash... Do the new strips turn off if you turn off your interior lights with the dial on the left of the steering wheel? The same dial that dims the gauge cluster

There's a link in Josh's post that tells you exactly which ones he bought. In case you didn't see it, here it is...

is the OEM bulb simply a 168/194 bulb that can just be changed for a better bulb?

no. the stock one is a LED assy which is not replaceable with any bulb.
Josh did it by adding a new LED strip.

gotcha, wasn't sure if the strip was simply used for more LEDs. ordering a pair of red ones now

That is true but it is replacable with any color LED. I actually disassembled the housing of the footwells, cupholder, overhead (Sunroof), gear shifter, and ashtray LEDs and replaced them all with blue aftermarket ones that I purchased at Radioshack. It took a lot of time but they retain all the oem settings for light (dim when driving and by the gauge switch, in park) and offer a subtle ambiance that the white offered, just in blue. Ill post pictures later. and its still technically OEM.

i used 6 LEDs, a few zener diodes, soder and some time.
