This is happening to my 06 is 250. . . . i now have about 65k on it, and out of warranty so i'm stuck on this one. I actually got used to driving like this, but looks crappy to be exact. I read on another threat that u could actually just replaced the needle itself but its a timely and rather not easy project. i just cant find that threat anymore ;(

I had mine looked at when I had my last oil change. Apparently there was an issue where the CPO warranty information got dropped from their system, and the dealer quoted me $1500 for a new cluster. Your dealer must be a lot better than mine! The warranty issue has been taken care of now, but I'll probably wait until I need another oil change or something to get it looked at.

This happened on my '92 SC400. There used to be a guy that was repairing everyone's needles. He did mine, and it worked. They even set up a website at one point. Not sure if this is the same guy, but a quick google search turned this up.

$1600 to fix....luckily I was only 300 over my mileage for warranty work so they replaced mine though I basically had to talk with the GM of Tom Williams Lexus to get it taken care of. I think that they will do the checks that they are supposed to do when you service your car at the dealer.

as others have said...another good reason to buy an extended warranty. Keep in mind, you can buy the extended warranty after buying the car...just do it before the standard warranty expires...Plus the price isn't 'fixed'. Check the internet. There are Lexus dealers, selling the extended warranty well below MSRP. Either buy from them or bring the quote to your local dealer (which is what I did)...and they can match the price.

Cheap insurance IMHO as repairs on modern cars are very expensive.

BTW Nice job Auburn!

Sure, it is worth it; but you never know when you're going to need it - or not need it (which is the case of my parents past 3 Lexus vehicles).

Since I was out of the 5 year warranty, purchased a used one on ebay with 49k miles and that's what was displayed upon installation.
