Default Auto headlights not working

Hi all, been on here a lot but never actually posted anything so please go easy on me.

I purchased my 08 IS250 RWD about 10 months ago at a great price from an owner that didnt really maintain the vehicle.

The main problem in the interior was the melting dash and door panels which i got replaced over the weekend using a refurbished set at a repair shop that specialised in interior repairs.

I was excited to pick it up and the car does look a lot better and I was happy with the work they did on the dash. Problem is after driving off from the shop and as the sun was setting my auto headlights didnt come on.

I turned them on manually and all lights were working fine. Does anyone know what could have gone wrong? I haven't found anything in the forums specific to the 2is and will be a few weeks before I can take it back to the shop for them to take a look.

Hello and welcome aboard!
Just making sure here, but the Auto headlights function was working without any problem before the dash was replaced, correct?

If that's the case: it's possible that the light sensor which controls the Auto headlights was not replaced or not re-connected properly when the new dash was installed. It should be at the end of the dash (when sitting inside the car and looking forward) right where the dash meets the windshield. You may want to check that out. From my owner's manual (2010 IS250 AWD, but I don't believe there is a difference on this function), page 166:

Ya, in the sun or with the aid of a bright light, shine it on the sensor and then cover it. All of my navigation stuff dims instantly when covered and inverts color from white to dark them.

I'm pretty sure the clock dims too. These items need to work for the auto hesdlight to work.
