Default OEM HID: are the fog lamps also HID?

My IS350 with Premium package came with the HID headlamps and I'm planning to replace the low beams with 8000k D4S bulbs.

The manual specifies that I can use D4S bulbs for low/high beam but it doesn't say that for the fog lamps. So are my fog lamps HID-ready? Can I stick HID bulbs into my fog lamps and which model should I look for?

sammy- nope. the oem fogs are halogen bulbs. in fact, they're a 9006 bulb type. you can pick up a kit for your fogs for $170 shipped from the link in my signature. here's a 2is with yellow fogs.

good luck.

That JDM lfog lense looks like a projector housing and that is what I have been looking for. I bet they are quite costly?

The OEM fogs are halogen bulbs, you can pick up a conversion kit to convert them to HID's. As far as your low-beams, I would recommend 6000k instead of 8k. You'll start to loose some performance of your bulbs going past 6k. Just my 2 pennies.

Fogs are a DIY job - don't pay someone for that!

not this one it requires some moding of the bumper to have it fit and you have to cut away some stuff plus the wiring diagram is in Japanese

I remember it used to be a lot cheaper than this. Don't know why it's even more expensive now.

Lightbulb

Yes, there is some cutting involved and this is not reversible...

Once you mod the bumper, you can never go back to the OEM US Spec Fogs.
The wiring is a bit tricky, but not too confusing. 99% plug & play.!

You will need a dremel and lots of patience.. the Corona helps..

Below is the link of the only place I know in the USA that can get them...

^^ ^^ The very weak USD verses the JP Yen is causing a significant increase on many imported products across the spectrum here in the USA.
