Default Aftermarket HID Kit Owners

Did you all have to adjust the halogen projector beam down once you added the aftermarket HID? As I understand it the HID's make it brighter (light will go further) and with the original halogen projector beam pattern would shine to high and blind oncoming drivers.....

So if you could answer the poll and describe any other info you did once you installed the HID's would be helpful... Thanks...

On my garage door with two piece of tape,Koz and I compared the cutoff height of his OEM HIDs and my HID kit.Mine were about 2-3 inches higher so we lowered each side to match his stock height.

Just curious, but I hear alot of people on here upgrade or change their HID lights. Is the factory HID no good? I currently own an A4 with Xenon HID lights and they are great! Why is Lexus's HID no good? Are they not Xenon's?

No they are, most people just like the brighter Xenons, or a higher Kelvin Temp for color (aesthetics only)

Most people swap out the 4200k for a 5000 or 6000k bulb with factory HID's. As for aftermarket, I put a 6000k and love it. I should lower my beam to compensate for the higher light out-put. Occasionally, I get flicked a high beam as oncoming drivers think my high beams may be activated.

I had to adjust my head lamp a few notches up. I also used my garage door and drove around the block a few times using parked cars for reference. Then I had a friend drive towards me and ask of I blinded him. Experiment

There is a Lexus Headlight Aiming PDF file floating around here for the 2gen. I saved it on my laptop at home and will find it to post to help out some members.

Its really easy to adjust! Its "just" the turn of one screw. Even if you have AFS and OEM HID. Many had mentioned 2 different levels. When I had the covers removed to install my Side Turn Signals we adjusted my lights also since I lowered the car. There is a sticker on the headlamp assembly that clearly states by turning the aiming screw it automatically changes the vertical/horizontal position.

With the covers on in the upper corner there will be a hole in the plastic cover so you do not need re remove them. Simply put a long (I believe it asked for a #2 Phillips) screwdriver threw and make sure you follow the aiming instructions Brian will post later. I cant seem to find the one I had but its also in the owners manual

Thread Revival, but I used search and couldnt find anything.

I just put 6000k HIDs into my IS350. The right side is slightly higher and I do not want to blind others.

I had the NON HIDS before, how do I adjust this?

Adjust the lights to your liking....there's no ONE position for everyone.

the driver's side light should be a little lower than the passenger side, that's a lexus factory setting so you don't blind oncoming driver's coming around corners. i have an aftermarket kit and actually want to raise the beam a little higher but after reading this thread, i might keep it as is-factory level.

It is factory setting on all cars since quite a few many years so that so you don't blind the oncoming driver.

I raised mine up. I'm not sure if the previous owner was tinkering around with the beam level, but it seemed far too low. The lowbeam barely light up 30 feet in front of me. I adjusted it in comparison to my cousin's 07 camry's factory settings. Her car is aimed fairly high, I have mine just a tad lower than hers. I tested it around the neighborhood, as well as tailing my friends while they drive. I got no complaints from them about it being blinding or anything of the sort. If I'm behind someone, my cutoffs sit right aroud their bumper area.
