tips on how to paint emblems/decals

i want to paint my emblems, but i dont know how. im pretty new to the whole mod-world. never had a car good enough to make it look clean. haha. any tips?

This question seems to come up a lot. I'll be doing a custom set of emblems this weekend, so I'll just make a DIY with pics out of it. In the meantime, you can read this thread, it's basically got all the instructions, just not many "in-process" pics.
