Thumbs up Lexus Factory Roof rack and Bike holders

Lexus Factory Roof Rack and Bike holder

I’m posting this because some people have been looking for a bike rack for the Lexus IS.
I managed to buy the factory bike rack. It’s not selling in the US but I bought mine from Canada and had it shipped. It cost about the same as the Thule and Yakima racks with the shipping and taxes but it looks a lot better.
I got mine from:
Clint Bowman (parts department)
Performance Lexus-Toyota
(905) 934-3210
Clint was very helpful. I am very happy with the purchase and below are pictures showing you details. I have plenty of pictures but I’ll post most of them to give you as much info as possible.

The IS350 (not sure about the IS250) has these areas on the car that seamed to be for a roof rack. After measuring the specs from the install manual I found that they are there for that reason. I hope you find this helpful and if you have any questions let me know.
Sorry for the dusty car.

(front) but the rear has them too

It's not as easy as a previous bike rack I had but it's not hard. It would probably that about 5 -10 minutes to remove it. I'm going to set up a pulley lift because I don’t want to scratch the car while removing it. I removed it this morning because I’m having paint protection (clear bra material) where the roof rack touches or rests on the car.

HAHA actually I'm trying to buy a new bike. I don't know what I want yet.
Right now I have a Cannondale Jekyll. I might get a Specialized =)

I'm getting the paint protection (clear bra material) placed under the pads. The one on the picture was just for measuring the location.

They do have the ski rack for the rack.

Here's a picture of the Ski Adapter

Call Clint Bowman (parts department)
Performance Lexus-Toyota

He can quote you a price. Remember that the prices are in Canadian Dollars.

My total price after converting the US dollars was $623.26 shipped with all taxes and duties. This included two bike adaptors and the roof rack.
Things to remember are the US to Canadian dollar exchanges rates, Canada charges taxes and federal taxes (about 14%) to total price. Shipping to Texas was about $125. And credit card companies charge about 3% for the conversion from Can to US.
Still with all these fees it was worth it and it cost less than Yakima or Thule. The total with tax on Thule or Yakima was about $700 and I didn't like the look of them.

I have a Litepseed Blade and a Cervelo P3. I have owned 5 Cannondales, great bikes for the money.

Enjoy the ride.

How do you remove it? I bought my car yesterday and I added the roof rack to the purchase. I want to remove it at the moment but I do not have any instructions to do so. Thanks in advance.

Default Lexus Bike rack

Thanks for the info lexem. Agree, the factory rack looks better than the Yakima setup (that I recently purchased). I don't understand why Lexus offers some accessories in Canada, but not the US.... Oh well - the only upside is that I have lots of Yakima add ons from previous cars.

Here is my Cannondale Rush, I really want to get a bike rack but afraid that the bike will fall and hit the car How stable are these bike racks and won't they scratch the paint?

Ouch, looks like the cleanest bike rack I have ever seen, but still looks painful on her...
