You're confused with Nissan. About 50 years ago, the founder of Nissan worked for VW. He went to a german engineer colleague and asked for his help in developing a new division of compact cars to be launched in 8 weeks, to which his colleague replied 'Dat soon' ???

I also find it inconceivable that with all of the electronics in the car, there are no semiconductors from Malaysia, Korea, and the other big chip manufacturing countries.

a good portion of subarus have parts shipped in from japan and assembled in america. so far for lexus, only the rx series has vehicles assembled in both japan and canada.. the rest of the lineup are 100% japanese made.

Well, that must be after 2003, because these things were shipped via containers from Japan and entered the Port of Baltimore to be delivered to dealerships. Same as the Acura TSX, 100% Japanese, right off the boat and into my hands. Now the sticker on the 2006 IS says engine/parts are 100% from Japan. That is what I saw....Was I seeing things?

Well Toyota is supposedly changing all that. Isn't the IS on it's own chasis that it doesn't share with any Toyota car, but it does share with the GS. Plus, it's also the first truly Lexus born car, even in Japan. Technically the IS is not a Toyota, it is a Lexus inside and out.

I just got my 07 IS last night and it says on the sticker like "95% Japan and 5% US and Canada".

The ride home was awesome.

Given that most of the steel used in Japan today originates in Pakistan, our cars are about 50% Paki!

Agreed x2

What does it even matter? The company has standards and they apply to ALL of its quality control checks, factories, etc. I dont see why this should be an issue

Not taking sides, but I it was somewhat provoked because somehow you are taking offense to this thread. I don't see why. I think we all get the point now at where the car comes from. I think a different approach on both parts, starting with you could have not made this seem like a personal attack...IMO. Ehh, I think this thread is done.

I never took offense to this thread...

The only thing I took offense to was the comment above telling me to "get a life"...

This thread doesn't offend me at all... I just find the thread racist/prejudice against anything non-Japanese... But that doesn't offend me... I was just stating my opinion and got attacked PERSONALLY for it by being told to "get a life"... That's unacceptable in my book... If you disagree, fine... Just say so... Don't attack someone personally because you disagree with them...
