Default Trade high mileage is300 for bard gsr civic?

Hey CL!

So school is coming up REAL soon and i need a reliable car that will not be potentially stolen when i wake up the next morning lol.

So i have a 1994 Honda Civic hatchback with a 1995 bard GSR. Supposedly when i bought the engine it was 70k and i put 20k on the engine. But everything is BARD and stock so i don't have to worry about reliability and maintenance cost is low compared to lexus's which i respect because i have a gs430 as well. Some guy texted me asking me if i wanted to trade an automatic 2002 White Is300. The only problem is that it's 200k and undocumented maintenance and my engine is 90k while the chassis of my car is 200k+. I need a car that will last me for 4 years and i average 15-20k miles per year. I will go back and forth from Sacramento to Fremont, which is 154 miles round trip. He said i would know if it maintenance has been kept up

His car has black leather interior and on godspeed coils that has never been lowered.

Please CL give me your input before i sell my baby!

My '04 has 306k miles and is still going strong. I've replaced many things over its lifetime, timing belt, clutch, valve cover gaskets, water pump, radiator, steering pump, and most recently ac compressor etc.

That said, my car drives perfectly smooth and responsive as if it's under 100k miles. My take on things is components will break and you'll have to replace parts for both the IS300 and the Civic. The IS300 is really good and very easy to work on if you are willing to change parts out yourself. These cars are really bulletproof if you take care of them.

Personally, if the 2002 IS300 is in good condition, I'd easily do the trade. I'd just make sure I understand why he's trying to make the trade and get the car inspected by a mechanic before doing the trade.

The IS is a very reliable car. but unless your using aftermarket parts. The "OEM" Lexus parts will cost you a arm and a leg. Which i am sure you are aware as you have a GS 430. btw the 2002 IS has most of the upgrades / updates that the 2001 needed.

There are a few things to consider and look at
-2002 had the gooey dash that under heat you might not want to touch.
-I would get one with an LSD (unless you want to install one later).
-The IS also eats tires. (also depends on how you drive).
- You might want to ask if the Rad had been replace as based on age and KM's that maybe something you need to replace after getting the car.
