Default Soon to be is300 owner.

Hey fellas! I'm about to sell my 99 gs300 soon and I'm in the market for a is300 but I'm wondering if there's any suspension problems like how the gs's have. For instance when I buy a is300 should I replace the lbj's right away? And same goes for the engine! I know both the is and gs300's have 2jz's but I was wondering if there's something I should be concerned about when looking for an is300. Thanks for the help!

The is300 is a mostly solid car. I cannot speak for all is', just my own.

Make sure the timing belt is replaced at or around 90k. I pushed mine out to 105k and was fine. I had replaced quite a few things over the years I owned it, including new alternator, new valve cover gaskets to stop an oil leak, new water pump (id do it with the timing belt if it looks like its needed), and the power steering pump was on the way out.

Just general stuff. My car didnt have the MOST miles, but it was a 10 year old car at the end of the day.

I kept mine stock as well, but I like to keep my vehicles stock, so YMMV.

2JZ is basically bullet proof. Suspension shouldn't be much of a concern unless the previous owner modified or beat on it.

As long as maintenance (specifically timing belt, and oil services) was performed and the previous owner(s) weren't abusive to the vehicle, you should have very few things to worry about with this car.

I had searched for mine for a very long time, and the perfect vehicle for me was all but dropped in my lap and I don't know if I could be happier. Well, other than finding all the OEM parts that vary from the GE to the GTE sitting in the trunk in the factory packaging, but that would be just silly.

Thanks for the feedback fellas! Ever since I owned my gs300 I babied the heck outta it! Kept up with the maintenance and just recently did a major tune up. I was just worried suspension wise because I don't wanna be driving in high speeds and all of a sudden some part of my suspension goes to **** . Anyways I'm very excited right now! I'm gonna miss my gs300 but I'll bet the is will make me forget about it very quickly!
