New 2005 Lexus IS300 owner and have a question
While inspecting the engine bay I notice 2 vacuum nipples has been capped off (picture below) and 1 vacuum metal line that has no tube or anything, it is just open. Is this normal? Sorry for the kinda crappy pictures but hope this helps.
I have a base model 2005 Is300

Both things you're concerned about are 100% normal.
The first picture is just a spare post-throttle vacuum port on the intake manifold, it's supposed to be capped.
The second picture is the hard vacuum line that is attached to the metal timing cover. If you look on the other side of the engine in the same area, you will see another open line. I believe this is because they used this timing cover on cars that ran boost from the factory and it was how they hooked the wastegate up to the intake piping..... that's my best guess.
I found out it was nothing because I blew air through it and noticed that it was just coming out the other side.
