Default My tail lights are not working what do I do.

I have a 2001 is300 and I or pulled over last night for no tail lights. My brake lights are working. I changed the fuse last week because the lights weren't working. So this is the second time in a week. I checked the fuse again and the bulbs. They all look good. From here I'm not sure what I need to do.

Welcome to CL

Well, if you know for a fact that the fuse and bulbs are good, the obvious first question is if the light switch itself is working properly. If so, then you may need to look for a wiring short, bad bulb-sockets, or maybe the wrong bulbs.

Why was this moved to the 2nd Gen IS Forum? OP has 1st Gen.

Welcome to Club Lexus, reneejoy19!!
I know this sounds stupid, but replace the bulbs first. It is very hard to tell if an incandescent bulb is good or not just by looking at it. It is possible to have a "loose connection" from the filament to the conducting wires in the bulb itself. This results in the lamp working only half the time or so (e.g. randomly working and then not working, and then going back to working again). So even if they appear to be good, replace them and see what happens. Besides, bulbs are relatively cheap. If new bulbs don't fix it, then there is an issue in the wiring/socket/switch. But replace the bulbs first and report back.

I have already changed the bulbs. Now every time I turn on the lights the fuse pops and I have to replace it. It takes a 10 amp mini.

Sounds like a short circuit somewhere. (For those that don't know, that means the power coming off the electrical system going to the lights is able to bypass the lights (the load) and so it tries to supply an infinite amount of current.)

Make sure you are using the correct bulbs. Check your sockets and see if they are burnt. Sometimes burnt sockets short out. Is it just your taillights that don't work? If so, you need to trace back and inspect the wiring. Look for any places with melted shielding or are pinched.
