Default Nickel Motorsports Lexus IS 300 In-Car Video

I thought a few of you might enjoy seeing some of our in-car footage from the NASA Endurance Racing Series 3-hour event at Buttonwillow Raceway Park this past Saturday evening. We are campaigning a 1st gen Lexus IS 300 built to United States Touring Car Championship specs.

Given an open lap with no traffic, what kinds of times is that car capable of?

What HP does the car make to the wheels? How about weight of car?

I ask because I am an avid track guy and thinking about building one of these.

Thanks.

Thanks for your interest! It's hard to speculate what type of lap time it will do under ideal conditions, but we were able to run a 1:59 at one point during testing on older tires. I think 1:58s are reasonable on new tires with less fuel and a few more tweaks.

I don't have a a horsepower figure to reveal right now, but we're really interested in area under the curve for lap times and drivability. As it sits, it weighs around 2,900 lbs. We've prepped the car for USTCC compliance, and you can see rules for that here - http://www.ustcc.com/pdf_doc/2015_rules.pdf. RWD USTCC cars with engines larger than 2.5L must conform to a minimum of 11.95 lbs/hp.

Best of luck with your car!
