2002 IS300 Steering Noise
Hello all.
First post here, so if it's misplaced, apologies in advance.
Huge Lexus fan, and I drive a 2002 IS300. The IS has always been my favorite Lexus model since its inception, but the new RC will probably give it a run for its money in the future, but I won't have the money for it till way in the future, so I'm still loving my 02 IS300.
I got into a slight accident with it which resulted in some damage to the bumper/grill/hood and radiator. I'm in the process of getting all that fixed and trying to improve the overall aesthetic of the car, but I really want it running as smoothly as possible mechanically as well.
It's got a bit of a draggy/jumpy transmission at times, but other times it rides great. Other than that no complaints other than this bizarre sound that occurs when making hard turns.
The noise doesn't happen all the time, but it happens most often when making hard, short turns, like in a parking lot. Its really annoying to have it happen when people are around. It's not the tire rubbing on the under-carriage because that does happen, and I'm well aware of it. I've done everything I can to prevent the under-carriage rubbing, but sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't, I've just sort of accepted that. This noise, however, is definitely like a squeeling/squeeking mechanical type noise. I've uploaded a couple of youtube videos to see if anyone can assist in the diagnosis process.
