Hi.

I bought a 2001 IS300 and when I tried to start it, the engine doesn't turn ( no crank - so I can't hear the fuel pump working like any other car does ). the security light is flashing all the time even when the key is in ignition (key fob is broken) so I decided to order a new ignition cylinder that comes with a new key but I heard in those 2001 models you need to replace the ECU as well if you get a new ignition cylinder, is it right? I have the master key and that's the only key I have. this car is a salvage and I'm trying to make it start as it has a turbo kit and I want it so bad.

lock the car,
unlock it using the key from the passanger door
then try to start it

it could be the plunger on the door handle that's not killing the security function.
