New Owner of a 2002 SportCross
Hi all,
I am new to the Lexus world coming from mostly BMWs. For the past 12 years I have driven Bimmers and decided it was time for a change. I have had 2 e30's (classic boxy 325's from the late 80's early 90's) a 1987 635csi and a 2001 Z3 coupe. I have also had an 08 Suzuki SX4 in which the engine went twice before it hit 100,000 miles. A beloved 1988 Nissan Maxima, a pos 1987 Accord and an old cavalier as my first car.
My last daily driver was a 19992 BMW 325i convertible that had no business being a daily driver. When it was time to upgrade I was open to different cars. But I prefered RWD, 6 cylinder, reliable and a hatch/wagon body style. I also wanted to keep the price under 20K. This did not leave me with many options.
The first car I looked at was an IS300 Spotcross that I drove 1.5 hours to see. I instanty loved driving it but it was in rough shape and walked away. Realizing I may not find another I test drove a TSX wagon. I liked it more than I expected despite FWD and 4 cylinder but the gas mileage was a nice bonus. But I felt they are a little overpriced on the used market since dealers were given them away new. I test drove a 2002 BMW 330ci with sport package just because I like them. It was nice but felt it did not measure up to my old Z3 coupe and that it did not drive as nice as the sportcross even if it was faster. I test drove a rwd G37 that was really fast but felt a litte isolated and is a gas hog. I may have bought it if the dealership did not play games. My search took led me to a local sport cross that I bought.
I love my 2002 sport cross. It ony has 61,000 miles and is in pretty good shape. It is not the best looking car on the road or the fastest but it is handsome and is plenty quick for me. I find that it accomplishes what BMW used to. I call it the best non BMW BMW. It is athletic, fast enough, comfortable enough and has a great straight 6. I am also looking foward to many years of low maintenance enjoyment.

I have the same exact car and i LOVE it. Im a mechanic and worked on almost every car there is. I now work in a Euro shop. My boss drove in my sportx and was instantly blown away at what a well built car it was(power/handling /comfort). My milage is 206206 and runs flawless. I just did radiator/hoses, timing belt kit and water pump yesterday. I think you will be very happy with your Lex. The more time that passes, the deeper the love. Enjoy and welcome!
