Default Roof racks???

I'm currently thinking about buying a bike rack for my is and currently leaning towards a roof rack instead of one mounted on the trunk since trunk mounted ones would tend to scratch and damage paint easier. as anyone had any success with a certain model other the other or maybe ones i should tend to stay away from? any suggestions would be helpful thanks

Make sure u get the locks I was using a roof rack intended for a civic si on my evo it fit like it was made for it but for some reason the clips opened up when there was a snowboard ontop flipped the board over and messed my roof and trunk up that night I lost one snow board and half my rack cause some ******* picked it up on the fwy when I was back backing up lol

Yakima makes a rack for the 1st generation IS, but the specs in the Yakima manual are incorrect. If you go the Yakima route I can dig up my paperwork where I wrote down the correct measurements. Below are a few pics of my car with the rack.

I am running a hitch on mine and like it so much better. Its personal preference but it doesn't get in the way and much more convenient. I use mine for carrying my mountain bike or rear rack when I go scuba diving on an IS300 yes. And no one wants to steal a hitch over a roof rack.
