New member from TX w/ '02 5-spd LSD
Im htekken from the Houston area. I've had the IS for 2 weeks now. It's an '02 Intensa Blue Pearl 5-spd with LSD. It has 132k miles, im the 3rd owner. It will be my weekend car, as i have an '07 Accord SE sedan as a DD. I hope to research/learn a lot here.
Bought the car from the local Lexus dealership for $7k. It's in pretty darn good condition for an 11-year old car. Completely stock like i wanted, no sign of abuse. With that being said, it might've been neglected some on maintenance. Small proof: Air filter and cabin filter were FILTHY. And i have no way of knowing whether timing belt and water pump were done, so might have to do that too.
So the first phase for this car, is to get it back to Square One, cosmetically and mechanically. Which would be:
- Replace oxidized headlights
- Buff hazy foglight lenses
- Replace old, cracked radio antenna
- Replace air filter and cabin filter
- Timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, seals etc
- Full coolant flush
- Brake fluid flush
- Rear differential oil
- Oil change
- Full exterior detail, to revive the paint
- Check up on any possble factory recalls?
Did i leave anything out? If so, let me know. On to pics.
Always liked the IS300. Was inspired by:
- how sexy they were when they first came out while i was a high schooler.
- my friend's NA-T IS300 from VisionBoy
- my friend's '94 NA-T Supra
- the TX2K meets

^Thx fellas. Yes i will be modding this car, planning to do single turbo. So far im seeing the SRT turbo kit is popular. Any other recommendations out there?
Something else i need to fix on the car: my driver side front door lock will not lock with the remote nor the power lock switch inside. I have to lock it manually outside and in. all the other doors lock like normal.
Thinking its a faulty door lock actuator, thoughts?

Thx. I just changed my oil. That was a HASSLE to do! I had to remove bolts to get 2 hoses outta the way, just to get a good grip on the overtightened oil filter. And pull it out from the top.

Thx. Been busy getting several things taken care of.
- Bought new Depo blackhousing headlights
- Bought oem blackhousing yellow fogs to match, lenses buffed out
- Replaced old, cracked antenna with an oem Chrysler/Jeep one
- Replaced air filter and cabin filter
- Oil changed, plan to change out every 7,500 miles
- Bought new set of Continental DWS tires
- 3-year alignment plan with NTB
- Got paint correction and full detail of the car by the cool people at SSP Auto Salon here in Houston.
- Priced out parts for a major tune-up: timing belt, water pump, spark plugs etc. All oem parts came out to be $600 from my online research.
- I was quoted $750 for the labor at a mechanic shop ive always gone to.Thoughts?

Wow, nice find. I was scouring the entire country for manual IS300s and Sport Crosses, this is definitely a great deal. Sucks that you have no records of the timing belt or waterpump being done. I'm assuming the clutch is still good? By 132k I imagine the timing belt would have went and forced the owner to replace it (I know most Toyota's don't explode if the belts go unlike BMWs and Hondas)
I just picked up a IS300 manual with 129k in silver for $5400.. but it's kinda beaten up.
