Help:Car doesn't start, touched the +/- wires while changing the side markers.
so i was changing the front side markers on my is300 and like one dumbass i touched the +/- wires together, and like a bigger dumbass i didn't disconnect the battery. so, i figured no biggie just find the bad fuses. well the car doesn't start anymore, doesn't even turnover... it just clicks. all the lights work now, except my kenwood headunit won't start up. the lights on the unit flicker a couple of times then they just stay off. so, basically the headunit doesn't power up. Can it be a coincidence the car doesn't start anymore? and that i have a bad battery? i'm thinking perhaps my starter relay is bad? tried going through all my fuses and i only found one bad fuse, the rear stop.
anybody have any ideas? am i missing any bad fuses? or possibly a bigger problem?
thanks.

I doubt your problem has anything to do with what you accidentally did with touching the wires (assuming we are talking about the wires for the bulb itself)... If we are talking about battery cables, different story...
anyways, might just be a dead battery, have it tested, if it is above 11 volts, charge it, see what happens, if it is below 11 volts, chances are you have a dead cell in the battery...

I would start with the battery first, make sure you didn't some how trip the alarm lock out for the starter. These cars will do that when they aren't getting the signal from the chip in the key so make sure the battery is still good in that. Double check all the fuses and I doubt a relay mysteriously went. Reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, pump the brake 10xs then reconnect and try to start. Let me know how you make out. Hope one of these works for you.

long story short... i ended up jump starting the car, and the car started. though idle was kinda rough, and the throttle wouldn't go above 4g initially, but after leaving the car on for about 15 minutes and driving around the neighborhood the car behaved normally.
so i guess no bad relay, seemed like the ecu just needed to be reset and a jump start helped with the weak battery... which is fine by now. oh and incidently i found out that costco no longer sells optima batteries.
thanks for the help guys.
