Hankook or Goodyear Tires?
I have a 2007 IS250. I currently have Continental Extreme 225/45 17" 91W tires on my car but because of the poor roads in LA, I have to replace two of them from pothole damage.
I am looking at either getting the Goodyear Eagle GTs or the Hankook Ventus V2 H437. The cost is the same. Which would you recommend? This is mainly for LA city and highway driving.
Thanks.

Is your car AWD? If so, it would be highly recommended to replace with the exact same tire, and even then, the tread depth on the old tires should be within 2 to 3/32" of new, else replacement of all 4 should be done at the same time. This is to maintain the exact same rolling diameter. If your car is not AWD, then they are both ~ok~ tires... Neither one really stands out, nor fails either...

Thanks
It is an AWD car. The guy I talked to at the shop said that because I am replacing two (and not just one) that I shouldn't notice any difference. Is that not true?

I could write a whole lengthy story about why, but Tire Rack already has it outlined pretty well:

You won't notice any difference, in the beginning, but, the more miles you rack up, you stand a better chance of having a center diff / coupler fail...

Clarification
That is interesting. If I am reading that article correctly, even if I got two tires that are identical to the ones that I currently have, I will still have that issue if the tread on my old tires is worn down even 1/8". So that basically means that I should get 4 new tires, regardless if two are fine.
I bought this car in 2010 - certified pre-owned with brand new tires. Therefore, the tires are only 2 years old. Is that enough to warrant getting 4 new tires? Would getting two of the same Continental tires help?
