Shudder driving me mad! Ideas?
Is300 auto w/ 26,000 miles. The shudder does not seem to start until vehicle has warmed for 5 min. Between 70-80 mph the shudder only happens when throttle is slightly applied from coast. At coast or slight to full accel there is no shudder. I don't think it is torque converter because it should be in lock up at that speed. Also, when I let off gas and then reapply(no brake) going up inclined drive to wait for garage door, feels like trans slips. Is that just the tq because I didn't apply brakes or is something wrong there too? Related problems? Trans fluid is pink, not burnt, no dtc's... HELP!

Hi - i only joined this forum so that i could post what fixed the same shudder in my 1994 LS400. It's been driving me crazy for about 12 mths - always happens around 70-80kmh mark, usually when the car is under acceleration going up a rise.
Lexus dealer replaced engine mounts for $800 (didn't fix the problem) & then advised it could be any one of a number of issues - i suspected the driveshaft as i had read on other forums of issues with those.
I took it to my local mechanic - took the shaft out checked it right out - no problem with the shaft. He said it sounded like the torque converter to him so he then spoke to some mates of his and they suggested he replace the tran fluid with Matic J.
He replaced it (told me he flushed it through three times instead of the recommended twice).
Problem solved !!
I drove the car to work & in all the spots where i have gotten used to the shudder happening it didn't happen - very very happy boy. Cost $160.
Anyway hope this might help someone else because it was killing me.
