Those pulleys do more harm than good. They lead to a lot of premature engine failures.

Underdrive pulleys are garbage. It disturbs the harmonic balance of your engine...period. The engine is well tuned from the factory to begin with. Putting these pulleys will only jack up your cam timing and etc etc etc. It's Toyota engineering, they know what they're doing. Especially on the G series heads of their engines.

I don't understand this. I have had one on my IS and have had no vibration problems, no noise problems and actually have gained quite a bit of ET in the 1/4 mile....Is the GS 2JZ-GE motor different in the GS vs IS??? I have an 03. I drive my IS very hard and no problems yet..(knock knock...on wood) now I am worried....

Question for you is, how long have you had it on your car? You're only setting yourself up for detrimental long term effects on your motor, despite the fact you don't notice any physical or visual problems at this time. Any diehard Toyota person or any skilled mechanic who knows these engines will tell you the same thing I just did.

Physically, the 2JZ in the GS and IS are identical. There are exhaust, electronics, intake system and etc etc set both apart.

Ok, so the motors are identical internally. I have this understanding. Now, I have had it on for about 2 months and run the car at the track almost every Friday nite. No problems......and I'm spraying too....(knock...knock...on wood). Could the fact that I am a 5spd be the difference? Maybe the rotational mass of the automatic trans and pulleys do not work well together. I won't kid you guys, I have heard this before about these pulleys and of course it was after I had installed mine. So of course I have been looking for sounds, oil leaks, vibrations.....yet still nothing..again(knock...knock...on wood) to date. Car runs strong and fine. Heck I have put almost 2000 miles on it in the last week and a half. Lets get somemore opnions on this about auto-man trans and the crank pulley.
