Default Difference between $7,000 IS300 and $20,000 IS300?

Is it just mileage and year or are there major options/updates causing some to hold value better?

I'm buying it and swapping a 2jzgte as soon as possible. So high mileage is not really a problem. But is there anything I should look out for when buying an ~$8000 IS300?

First post here and surely not the last, thanks for any help.

I just saw one on craigslist for $3,500, post says (needs minor engine work).
So if you are looking to do a GTE swap might as well get that one!

I just purchased a 01 is300 with 164k for $5500 and it drives great. The engine runs really strong. Had to replace the radiator, but other than that its been awesome.

Just make sure all the proper servicing and scheduled maintenance is done and everything in good running order.

So.....^

It's not under 10k miles though. That's basically new. I would take a low mileage is300 over 2nd gen IS any day. Unless heavily modded....2nd gen IS looks too common and boring.

I sold my IS300 with 125K mileage for $7000. If you are going to spend $20k you might as well get a 2006 IS250 or IS350.

Well def go for the IS350 if spending 20k. IS250 is weak and boring to drive.

OP is pulling numbers out of his ***. if you get past the 20k IS300 idea then you'll see he's just looking for suggestions on different options and things to look for.

the perfect response should have been, the difference between a 7K IS and a 20K IS is $13,000. the end.

Not pulling numbers out of my *** at all. I'm really just looking to understand why a 2001 IS300 with 130,000 miles goes for 7k or less on autotrader and a later year IS300 with practically the same mileage like 90,000+ is listed for 13k-20k+. Same thing happens on craigslist, ebaymotors, etc..

But apparently the only difference is the asking price. Thanks for all replies, going to wait until the right color/option comes along and grab that.
