Used key transponder question

Hi all, I just brought a used 2001 IS300 and it comes with these keys:

1 master key (with keyless and trunk entry)
1 credit card key (only open doors but not ignition)

My question is this: Someone I know has the same yr car and said I could have his master key. Can I take it and open the case, toss out his old key, insert my credit card key and reprogram the 'new' transponder??

No I don't think the credit card key would fit. Try it

You can program the key to work but I dont know about the card

Can you lock an '08 GS450H keyless "key"? in the trunk? I'm asking for a friend who has one. I have a "real" key for my Lexus. Thank you for any help God bless.

In an IS300 yes. In an GS450H wrong section try there
