IS300 info
I orig. came from the SC400 forum, which I recently sold. Does the IS300 have single track or LSD. Also does it have the horrible fuel filter fittings like the SC400? Thanks

You can get an IS300 with or without LSD.
How to tell if my IS300 has LSD?
Look at the sticker on your driver door sill/jamb, look for the area that reads "A/TM"
You'll see numbers such as B02A, B02B, B02C
A=no LSD
B,C = LSD

Spinning the wheels by hand won't tell you if you have a torsen LSD since it acts as an open diff until one wheel has more traction that the other. You really need to look at the codes (on the diff or door jam) or crack it open. Unless you're the original owner, looking at the door jam might not be reliable because the original owner may have sold the LSD and swapped in an open diff prior to selling the car.
Here's a good discussion on determining if you have an OEM open/LSD differential: http://my.is/forums/f87/official-oem...inside-380603/
From the linked thread:
The Torsen differential* is a purely mechanical device; it has no electronics, clutches or viscous fluids.
*The Torsen (from Torque Sensing) works as an open differential when the amount of torque going to each wheel is equal. As soon as one wheel starts to lose traction, the difference in torque causes the gears in the Torsen differential to bind together. The design of the gears in the differential determines the torque bias ratio. For instance, if a particular Torsen differential is designed with a 5:1 bias ratio, it is capable of applying up to five times more torque to the wheel that has good traction.
Hummer!
These devices are often used in high-performance all-wheel-drive vehicles. Like the viscous coupling, they are often used to transfer power between the front and rear wheels. In this application, the Torsen is superior to the viscous coupling because it transfers torque to the stable wheels before the actual slipping occurs.
However, if one set of wheels loses traction completely, the Torsen differential will be unable to supply any torque to the other set of wheels. The bias ratio determines how much torque can be transferred, and five times zero is zero

Im looking to purchase in the Lou. KY. area, and was trying to get a heads up before I purchase. I loved my SC400, but it was a little heavy ,had problems changing the fuel filters and all were single trac rear ends.
