Default plastic part under windshield wipers? the one with vents?

what is that thing called? mines faded really bad and i was thinking about painting it with flat black or maybe satin black, anybody done anything like this before?

yes its been done. quite a few people have, just get the SEM paint for it

It's called the cowl. I think there are products that can restore the plastic and make it look close to new.

Funny you created this thread....I just re-finished mine last week. I used the black plasti dip. Looks OEM new. The plasti dip gives it a nice flat black look. Very durable.

i think ive seen that at lowes before, hey, i havent looked at it yet to contemplate taking it off as im still in the begining of my caliper work but...got any tips for things i may run into when taking it off and painting it with the plasti dip??

I didn't remove the plastic piece off. I got lazy and just masked everything. haha

I followed instructions per can with 3 coats. Just be sure to spray evenly, because it can get blotchy if you don't maintain the side to side hand action. lol

I took mine off and sprayed it last fall
Still looks brand new!

I used gloss black (3 coats) then clear coat (3 coats)
Still looks shiny new

And it doesn't look super shiny after a couple rains etc...
That's freshly painted so of course it's gonna be EXTRA shiny at first
